In the early 1980s, Georg Herold, together with Martin Kippenberger, Werner B\u00fcttner and Albert Oehlen, questioned art and the art world and - unlike the \"young savages\" of this generation - developed a lasting scepticism that is still productive today. His sculptures made from materials such as roof battens, bricks, wire and objets trouv\u00e9s make critical and ironic reference to society, politics and modern art and challenge the viewer to think further about the concepts with which he encounters art. This comprehensive publication provides an overview of Georg Herold's work from the early 1980s to the video works of 2005, making it clear that absurdity and paradox may falter in text-bound theory, but prove to be agile and inventive in Georg Herold's pictorial thinking.<\/p>\n
