In 1967, Peter Roehr and Paul Maenz curated the exhibition \"Serial Formations\" for the Studiengalerie of the University of Frankfurt\/M., one of the very first exhibitions of Minimal Art in Germany. As part of the exhibition and publication series \"Minimalism in Germany\", which was launched in 2005, the Daimler Art Collection is now making the first attempt to restage this historically important presentation. At the time, it summarised current international minimalist tendencies at a high level and juxtaposed these with the positions of German artists. The selection criterion for the total of 62 works by 48 artists on display was the principle of serial order as a visual characteristic for pictures and objects. This could, of course, conceal different, quite contrary concepts. The European Zero movement was represented as well as American Minimal and Concept Art, aspects of Nouveau R\u00e9alisme, Pop and Op Art were presented - as Paul Maenz wrote in the accompanying catalogue, \"the informative ambition was to clarify the differences between similar forms of appearance\". The special feature of the publication accompanying the current Berlin exhibition is the catalogue's complete reprint of the original catalogue, which is highly sought after today and is an excellent example of early conceptual book design.<\/p>\n
