Al proceder del tao\u00edsmo, se invocan casi inevitablemente los principios del yin y el yang. Originalmente, estos t\u00e9rminos representaban la \"oscuridad en la orilla sur del r\u00edo\", un \"lugar sombr\u00edo\" (yin) o, en contraste con esto, el \"resplandor del sol, la colina soleada en el lado sur de las monta\u00f1as\" (yang).
