La Fundaci\u00f3n Alfred Ehrhardt tiene ante s\u00ed un verdadero redescubrimiento: Dedica una exposici\u00f3n y este cat\u00e1logo a Fred Koch (1904-1947), probablemente uno de los fot\u00f3grafos m\u00e1s interesantes de la Rep\u00fablica de Weimar, que ahora s\u00f3lo conocen unos pocos especialistas. En sus nuevas fotograf\u00edas objetivas en blanco y negro, Fred Koch se centr\u00f3 sobre todo en tomas detalladas de plantas y cristales, corales y mariscos, as\u00ed como insectos. Entr\u00f3 en contacto con la fotograf\u00eda en 1922\/23 a trav\u00e9s de Albert Renger-Patzsch, encargado del archivo fotogr\u00e1fico de la editorial Folkwang, que fotografiaba plantas a gran escala. En contraste con el estilo sobrio y objetivo de Renger-Patzsch, las fotograf\u00edas de Fred Koch destacan la belleza floral y la gracia de las plantas, as\u00ed como su esplendor. Utilizaba reflejos de luz y fuertes efectos de sombra para subrayar la plasticidad de los objetos que fotografiaba de una manera casi teatral. Fred Koch fue tambi\u00e9n un inventor incansable: dise\u00f1\u00f3 c\u00e1maras especiales para una profundidad de campo extrema, optimiz\u00f3 los equipos y estudi\u00f3 las modalidades de iluminaci\u00f3n hasta el m\u00e1s m\u00ednimo detalle.
