The Concept

Silvia Bächli and Eric Hattan spent four months in Spring 2008 in the port Seyðisfjörður on the east coast of Iceland. Silvia Bächli worked on the first pages of her 2009 solo presentation for the Swiss Pavilion of the 53rd Venice Biennale. During this period, Eric Hattan collected footage for his video installation All the While. The artists also took joint photographs in panorama format: distillates of landscapes made of snow and ice. There was plenty of this in Iceland during these months. The Icelanders have called it the most severe Winter since the 1960s: »Snow until May.« There is no hecticness, no disorder to see, everything is floating …
