Dans sa pratique artistique, Barth\u00e9l\u00e9my Toguo (*1967) pose des questions tr\u00e8s actuelles sur l'identit\u00e9 et l'appartenance sociale et aborde les th\u00e8mes de la migration, de la fuite, de l'expulsion et des restrictions impos\u00e9es par les fronti\u00e8res territoriales et la politique de souverainet\u00e9. Dans le contexte de sa double nationalit\u00e9 franco-camerounaise, il adopte une attitude explicitement anti-euro-centrique. Il s'int\u00e9resse aux causes des perturbations \u00e9cologiques et \u00e0 leurs cons\u00e9quences sociales. Les mots-cl\u00e9s dans ce contexte sont : P\u00e9nurie d'eau potable et d'eau industrielle, mauvaises \u00e9volutions dans l'agriculture, effets du changement climatique, corruption, guerre, manque de perspectives de d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique, etc. Dans ses travaux, qu'ils rel\u00e8vent de la peinture, du dessin, de la sculpture, de la performance ou de l'installation, il associe l'humain \u00e0 la nature : \"Ce qui me guide, c'est une esth\u00e9tique en constante \u00e9volution, mais aussi un sens de l'\u00e9thique qui fait la diff\u00e9rence et structure toute ma d\u00e9marche\".
