D'une hauteur de 160 \u00e0 220 cm et d'un format vertical, les tableaux refusent toute impression de paysage, tout comme ils \u00e9vitent toute allusion \u00e0 la figure humaine, \u00e0 laquelle ce format \u00e9tait traditionnellement r\u00e9serv\u00e9. \"Il n'y a pas d'articulation interne de la surface du tableau qui rappelle l'anatomie, et les formes utilis\u00e9es ne s'assemblent pas en ensembles qui invitent \u00e0 s'y retrouver physiquement. M\u00eame la m\u00e9taphore des constructions architecturales ne s'applique pas\".  Au contraire, l'identit\u00e9 de la surface peinte et de la surface picturale se dissout, les formes se trouvent sur un fond blanc neutre avec lequel elles interagissent - la transparence remplace l'opulence. \"La peinture de Marius L\u00fcscher se constitue depuis 2010 \u00e0 partir des possibilit\u00e9s qui en h\u00e9ritent et qui ne repr\u00e9sentent pas une quantit\u00e9 stable mais variable. Le peintre lui-m\u00eame qualifie ce travail, sur fond d'abstraction historique et d'abstraction de l'apr\u00e8s-guerre, d'\"abstraction de l'abstraction\", car il ne cherche pas, un peu comme Roy Lichtenstein, \u00e0 repr\u00e9senter la peinture abstraite comme une fiction historique, il essaie plut\u00f4t de rester du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la peinture non figurative et de l'historiciser, de la
