Architectural utopias by artists

"GOOD SPACE - political, aesthetic and urban spaces" means above all: highlighting opportunities. This exhibition reader explores how the requirements addressed to public spaces can be realised. The focus is on surprising uses of space and subversive artistic strategies. The design and meaning of public spaces are scrutinised, whether they are de facto built, designed as utopias or located in the digital realm. The focus is on sustainability and the perspective questions of how the individual can and should act in public in the future. With "EVERYTHING IS ARCHITECTURE: Bau Magazine from the 60s and 70s", a presentation by the ICA London from 2015 has also been included in the exhibition concept, which addresses the historical background of the visionary and utopian concepts of architecture and space of the 1960s and 70s. As a reader, the book is the sum of all exhibition contributions and lectures at the Villa Merkel in Esslingen in summer 2016.
