With "Same but Different", Alex Hanimann has created a journey through his artistic production. Even the reflective cover is a reference to Nico's cool, more spoken than sung song I AM YOUR MIRROR with the Velvet Underground, which can be found on the disc with Andy Warhol's famous banana motif. Iconic images are an important theme for the artist, which is presented in this book through highly informative texts and with visual material from the three exhibitions 2019 - 2020 at the Kunstmuseum St.Gallen, the Villa Merkel Esslingen and the FRAC Grand Large Dunquerque as if in a loop. The grid images from the 1970s are represented alongside the new glossy sculptures from the last five years, which show young people in their typical contemporary outfits on a slightly enlarged scale ("Conversation Piece"). A video ride on a bicycle ("Catch of the Day") through London's Victoria Park forms a link. In an almost utopian way, it combines images from the artist's own youth with sculptural reproductions of today's young people by means of the motif of movement, which symbolises life.
