Counter Culture. 25 Years Sammlung Falckenberg. Objects and Installations

Installations are the point of departure for The Falckenberg Collection! To mark the 25th anniversary of The Falckenberg Collection, the Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Sammlung Falckenberg was presenting a comprehensive exhibition that placed the emphasis on the installation and sculptural works in the collection. The exhibition presented around 100 works by more than 60 internationally renowned artists, some of which have been shown as loans at the Centre Pompidou, PS1, the Walker Art Center, Tate Modern, MoMA New York, MOCA Los Angeles or at the biennials of Venice and Shanghai. For the first time these works had being brought together in a large survey exhibition at the Sammlung Falckenberg in Hamburg-Harburg. Some of the exhibits were on view in the Phoenix-Hallen in Harburg for the first time. Others, such as Jon Kessler’s multimedia room installation “The Palace at 4 A.M.,” had undergone elaborate restoration especially for this exhibition. In addition, the installations by Jonathan Meese, Thomas Hirschhorn and John Bock are permanently set up in the rooms of the collection for an integral part of the show.
