Über dieses Buch

Soul landscapes of the painter

Over the last five years, Florin Kompatscher has found a remarkable balance in his oil paintings between surreal metaphors and spatial depth on the one hand and an abstract-looking condensation or dissolution on the other. He does indeed maintain a difficult balance and thus keeps his pictures in a state of suspension, which always draws the memory of the familiar into a somnambulistic moment of transition. Of course, anyone who wants to can look for quotes in these pictures, for traces of Dali, Magritte, Tanguy, perhaps even C.D. Friedrich. But those who prefer to see how terrain that was thought to have been worked through is made fertile for a new and very surprising abstraction can be present here in the stirring battles of form and colour. The book demonstrates this in exemplary fashion, is far removed from any tired didacticism and is therefore a pure battle of painting that really couldn't be more beautiful!
