Bernard Frize writes about his unusual book: The purpose of this book is not to present a collection of graphic patterns intended to prevent a letter from being read through its envelope. Rather, in turning the pages, the curious reader will recognise the reasons for which this work has been made. When he puts it down again, I would ask him to bear in mind that this small work and my paintings are connected with one another by the same structure. This book has come about thanks to the generous invitation of Mr Kienbaum. Its production lay in the hands of Mr Uwe Koch, with the attentive assistance of Rosemarie Preuss and Julie Hottner. This book is dedicated to my daughter.
