Über dieses Buch

The sky, the sea and Förg

As in the volume "Gazzetta dello Sport", Günther Förg again devoted himself to a specific theme in another book of watercolours in 2006. Here it was a selection of landscape paintings from the end of the 19th century from a small but exquisite collection in Baden, around which he built up a group of just over 80 watercolours. In this series, created at great speed, Günther Förg surprises us with his special approach; the way he approaches the landscape can only be valid in a form of abstraction. When looking through the paintings, which are interrupted every now and then by one of the "templates", it quickly becomes apparent in the rhythm of Günther Förg's pictures how much his abstract painting remained ahead of new figurative ideas at the time.
