Since the beginning of the 2000s, the works of Jeppe Hein, born in Kopenhagen in 1974, have causes a stir, be it rolling benches and moving walls at the Museum Ludwig, Köln, spraying curtains of water at the Kokerei in Essen or at the Biennale Venedig, or, in a Berlin gallery, an iron ball heading unchecked for the walls, at best grazing along them but otherwise smashing them badly. For Niklas Maak and the „Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung“ this was at the time the „revenge of Minimalism“, since Hein, as subtly as few before him, smuggles a liberating rumpus of the happening into the rigid boxes of the fin de siècle just past, into a Minimalism that has turned into design. The artist’s first monographic publication, produced for the exhibition at the Kunstverein Heilbronn, contains, alongside many double-page and full-page colour reproductions of the spectacular works, a complete catalogue of all works created up to 2002 together with descriptions of how they function.
