Provost's Church of St Trinitatis Leipzig
The consecration of a new church in May 2015 ended the 70-year odyssey of Leipzig's provost parish. With the construction of the new building by architects Schulz & Schulz, St. Trinitatis has returned to the centre of the city: in a prominent location opposite the monumental town hall dating from 1905. Over 120 carefully selected photographs show the constant changes on the building site from 2012 to 2015, with the unfolding new architecture framing a selection of portrait series: Teenagers celebrating their confirmation, workers hailing from all over the world, and the artists commissioned to develop work for the building. By integrating some additional photographs of other projects into the sequence of the series, Joachim Brohm and Valentina Seidel create a visual narrative that is as surprising as it is complex, taking the viewer far beyond the boundaries of conventional documentation.
