Multiface – the title refers to Paloma Varga Weisz’s use of the word and to the richness of facets, the multiperspectivity and the poetic quality of the artist’s work. Originally, however, the Multiface was a piece of hardware developed in the 1980s for external storage from limited multiple working memories. The present book appears in the context of Paloma Varga Weisz’s exhibition “Multiface,” held at the Kestner Gesellschaft Hanover in 2024/2025. It is deliberately not conceived as a catalogue published after the fact, but rather as a publication intended to pay tribute to the artist’s multilayered oeuvre, which is distinguished by an extraordinary combination of sculpture, watercolour and drawing. With a highly differentiated and sensitive feeling for corporeality, symbolism and historical references, Paloma Varga Weisz has developed an unmistakable artistic language that finds concise expression in the conception of the book. Moreover, the publication was produced in very close collaboration with the artist.
