This summer 2017, "Produktion. Made in Germany Three" at the three art institutions Kestner Gesellschaft, Kunstverein Hannover and Sprengel Museum Hannover takes a look at the multifaceted and diverse art scene in Germany. The third edition of "Made in Germany" focuses on the production conditions of art in Germany and the question of how geographic, political and institutional structures as well as new technologies create decisive conditions for the production of art. By focussing on current production conditions, the show asks to what extent artistic production is being redefined. In the five years since the last exhibition, a post-digital generation has grown up that has radically changed art with new networks, apps and DIY instructions. In an art landscape with a still internationally unique density of institutions (art academies, art colleges, art associations and museums), the scene in Germany is one of the most agile production centres for this latest art. However, three central aspects are at the forefront of the exhibition and book: 1. space in the sense of production site, location and environment; 2. time in the sense of work process, narrative and speed; 3. the production structure in the sense of co-operation and network. Ephemeral art forms and site-specific installations are booming, artists are creating blogs, offspaces and free spaces for all kinds of activities. The expansion of their global mobility, membership of various artists' groups and participation in a demanding art market are aspects of a much accelerated creative process.
