The book accompanying the exhibition at SCHAUWERK in Sindelfingen provides a multifaceted insight into the work of Austrian artist Sabrina Haunsperg (*1980) and shows works from the last ten years or fresh from the studio that are being presented to the public for the first time. Sabrina Haunsperg creates colourful, dynamic and mostly large-format paintings using a variety of techniques and materials. She attaches great importance to the use of high-quality colours, which she mixes according to traditional recipes. She applies the colour to the canvas with brushes, pencils, spray guns or pours, using her whole body. The interplay of careful planning and experimental curiosity results in numerous layers of overlapping colour surfaces, colour networks and energetic colour explosions. The finished paintings captivate the viewer according to their production process through the exciting relationship between the surface and depth of the picture. They create immaterial spaces that allow for a variety of associations. Sabrina Haunsperg studied painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 2001 to 2008 under Helmut Federle, among others, and was a master student of Herbert Brandl; she lives and works in Düsseldorf.
