Light, space, time -

That's all Susa Templin needs for her work, in addition to a camera, photo lab and studio, and what characterises it. She does not see herself as a photographer, but rather sees her work as something between painting and sculpture. Her medium of choice is therefore analogue photography. Susa Templin creates her colours in the laboratory and leaves the flat surface behind with her works: she creates walk-in picture installations from superimposed photography and takes them into the three-dimensional. Light, space and time - according to her, these are the conditions of photographic work. Each of her works reflects the photographic art that it is. The catalogue goes beyond mere documentation of the installation and presents works, exhibitions and art-in-architecture projects from the last ten years. Theres Rhode, curator at the MKK and specialist in concrete art and photography, devotes her text to the tension between abstraction and concretion. Christina Leber, head of the DZ Bank Art Collection, which focuses on photographic forms of expression in contemporary art, defines the photographic philosophy of space in her essay. The authors draw attention to a contemporary photographic position that goes far beyond the conventional notion of photography.
