What does the artist understand? Bojan Sarcevic has invited curators from various countries to a seminar for which he set them a topic: “How far should an artist actually understand the meaning of his or her results?” The question posed by Bojan Sarcevic, who was born in Bosnia, grew up in Paris and now lives in Berlin, gave rise to an extremely lively and at times both exciting and amusing discussion, which the small volume documents alongside a concise foundational text on the subject by Sebastian Egenhofer. As always, Bojan Sarcevic takes a position on the topic in an entirely idiosyncratic way: with eight unspectacular small colour photographs of filigree sculptural works he shows that for a long time now his real concern has been painting.
