The "artist of the century" Marcel Duchamp in the focus of his intellectual relationships with women

This first comprehensive publication on the subject takes a look at the women in and around Duchamp's life and work with a focus on biographical coincidences - from Duchamp's youth to his death in 1968. Some of the women gathered here were central figures of early 20th century modernism, while others were part of fascinating intellectual and artistic networks that need to be rediscovered. "Duchamp and the Women" thus familiarises readers with the cultural circles and artistic movements in whose context the women presented were active and within which they themselves were influential.
