„GOOD SPACE – politische, ästhetische und urbane Räume“ means above all: pointing out opportunities. This exhibition reader explores how the demands addressed to public spaces can be met. The focus falls on surprising uses of space and on subversive artistic strategies. The form and significance of public spaces are examined, whether these are actually built, conceived as utopia or located in the digital realm. At issue are their viability for the future and the prospective questions of how the individual can and should act in public in the years to come. With „EVERYTHING IS ARCHITECTURE: Bau Magazine from the 60s and 70s“, a presentation by the ICA London from 2015 has also been incorporated into the exhibition concept, one that touches on the historical background of the visionary and utopian concepts of architecture and space of the 1960s and 1970s. As a reader, the book is the sum of all the exhibition contributions and lectures held at the Villa Merkel in Esslingen in the summer of 2016.
