Photography by Günther Förg at the Kunsthalle Bremen! The Kunsthalle Bremen devoted a survey exhibition to Günther Förg’s extensive photographic work on the architecture of modernism, with large-format pieces from 1982 up to the year 2004. At Günther Förg’s exhibition at the Kunstverein Münster, the works measuring some 2.40 by 1.60 metres and mirroring the architecture of the space had caused a considerable stir for the first time. The Bremen show now encompassed these as well as earlier portraits, self-portraits and works from Italy on the architecture of Giuseppe Terragni. Added to these were the staircase of the Alte Pinakothek in Munich by Hans Döllgast as well as the staircases from Madrid and Athens, and then, from 1986, the pictures of the Villa Wittgenstein. Also grouped together are the façades by Melnikov, façades from Tel Aviv and the Hamburg Speicherstadt from 1997 as well as photographs of the school of journalism by Alvaro Siza in Santiago de Compostela from 2003. The book, whose sequence was compiled entirely by the artist himself, once again combines this cross-section of his work with such famous photographs as those of the Villa Malaparte, the Villa Tugendhat by Mies van der Rohe or those of Haus Lange in Krefeld.
