Martin Kippenberger undoubtedly had the best ideas on how to set up and plan a museum. The small reprint for the second exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art Syros was originally designed in 1994 by Lukas Baumewerd in a small edition and printed on one of the first inkjet printers. The master himself then distributed the first twenty copies on the occasion of the opening of Ulrich Strothjohann's exhibition.
The small museum building on the Greek island of Syros, although uniquely situated and well worth seeing, had been discovered by Martin Kippenberger years earlier during a landing approach and then explored together with Michel Würthle. It quickly became clear that the unfinished slaughterhouse was an ideal ensemble. The circle of friends quickly set to work, not without Kippenberger repeatedly urging and commissioning them to agree on exhibitions, measure the site and draw plans. Just in time for the openings, travelling groups from Cologne usually arrived in Syros to celebrate the summer exhibition together with the director Martin Kippenberger. This led to exhibitions by Hubert Kiecol, Ulrich Strothjohann, Christopher Wool and Cosima von Bonin.
The reprint of the booklet, which was first published in twenty and later expanded to one hundred copies, is completely identical to the original edition in terms of design and layout, but unlike the original, it has now been printed in offset.
