Über dieses Buch

Cosmos of things

Rolf Glasmeier (1945-2003) was an artist, graphic designer and exhibition organiser who shaped the art scene in the Ruhr region from the 1960s onwards. After his training at the Ulm School of Design, he developed an internationally recognised style between geometric abstraction, serial structures and participation: His interactive sculptures invite you to touch and change them. In the 1970s, he turned to new materials and themes such as mass consumption and recycling. His entire oeuvre is characterised by humanist thinking and the conviction that art can be a space in which society questions and changes itself. On the occasion of his retrospective at the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen, Rolf Glasmeier's multimedia work - from sculpture, photography and graphics to actions in public spaces - is honoured in this richly illustrated publication with many historical photos throughout its development and comprehensively illuminated in in-depth essays.
