Everyday migration in the kitchen and garden for BUGA 2019

Silke Wagner (*1968) will realise a project for public spaces entitled "Migration and Plants" for the 2019 Federal Garden Show. In Heilbronn, the proportion of the population with a migration background is an exceptionally high 50%. The city is home to 140 different nations. For her project, Silke Wagner sought out plants that originally came from migrants' countries of origin and have become native to Heilbronn. To this end, she developed a system of multi-coloured printed foils on which the name of the plants and statistics on topics such as labour migration, flight, etc. can be found. She uses bus and railway shelters along the axis between the railway station, the entrance to the BUGA site and the Heilbronn Art Association as a display for the presentation. The films she has designed are stuck onto the glass surfaces of the bus stops. Flyers will be available at many locations to explain the project. An app makes it possible to download information on the plants, with statistics on their migration routes and the Heilbronn path of the plants, directly onto a mobile phone. The book documents the campaign and provides in-depth insights.
