With his new oil paintings and sculptures, Siegfried Anzinger makes a radical break. In particular, he breaks with his typical process of impasto colour application in his paintings, his particular artistic style of figurative appearance, a colour palette that sometimes seems to be northern Italian, in short, the painterly concept of painting. And this has the effect of a suddenly brightly shining light. For now Siegfried Anzinger applies the background tones quickly and in diluted colours, and from the detail, such as a looping movement in a mountain range, an epic clearly staggered into different pictorial levels is constructed. In contrast, the figures and scenes have so far been shown to their best advantage in a space that seems closed off, more or less like a chamber play. With his new painting, Siegfried Anzinger has drawn the curtain wide open and set the stage. It is not only fantastic how the images from all kinds of cultural techniques (rock, pop, comic, Renaissance and Western) vie with each other to conquer the gold train, but also how a painterly panorama is opened up with targeted drama, in which the epics of David, Delacroix or Gerricault had already given rise to dreams.
